My Week of Dinners

Another hectic week behind me. Of course I had to document all of my tasty meals along the way.

Monday
This week I enjoyed the company of my monthly dinner-date crew. We dined at one of my favorite restaurants in Albany, New World Bistro. The creativity and freshness the chef puts into every dish is amazing. You really cannot go wrong with any choice. We decided to share a bunch of smaller plates, and let me tell you, we had an explosion of flavors on our table. Here was the line up:
- "Cage" blackened string beans, one of my favorites!
- Warm curried cashews
- Hummus with flat bread and olives
- "Toscano" flat bread: fig jam, arugula, Gorgonzola, and topped off with truffle oil. Devinne!
- Fiddle head salad, which was on special that night.
- Calamari
And for dessert:
- Italian Ricotta Cheesecake
- Cookie Sandwich OTD: Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two very large and warm chocolate chip cookies. Drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with chocolate chips.

Tuesday
Tuesday was a very simple and quick meal. I had a soccer game at an odd hour that prevented me from eating before and was too late to cook after. So I enjoyed a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich and my favorite chips, Cape Cod Sweet & Spicy Jalapeno kettle chips.

Wednesday
This week was Deirdre's round for Girl's Night. She created the southern classic, Chicken and Waffles! This meal was so good and it is something I have always been meaning to try. I will definitely be recreating this meal at home. To add a little freshness to our plates, she put a nice bowl of fruit on the table too.

Thursday
As it always seems to work out for the "My Week of Dinners" post, I hung out with my girlfriend Maeve. After taking her to lacrosse practice, I had a quick meal of barbecue chicken and a simple garden salad. Light but delicious.

Friday
This past weekend Nick and I attended an annual car show in Pennsylvania. The first night our group reserves a room at a local pub for everyone to have dinner together. Per usual, I was at a loss of what to order. I decided to try and recreate the Bleu Ribbon Burger I recently had at Red Robin. I topped a turkey burger with blue cheese, barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomato, and bacon. This didn't have quite the effect as the Bleu Ribbon (probably because it didn't have the oh-so-delicious onion straws) but it was still enjoyable.

Saturday
Saturday is the actual car show. Everyone hangs out, checks out each others rides, catches up on the past year...and of course, eat. The Audi club puts on a barbecue for the group. I had a few pieces of grilled chicken drum sticks, baked beans, potato salad...the classic barbecue foods.

Sunday
After driving back home, catching up on laundry, and cleaning up the house I really had no desire to cook up a meal. Instead we ordered Chinese because you really cannot go wrong.
